Turkeys made with a heart cookie cutter

This is just my second Thanksgiving making cookies.  Both last year and this year I made my version of Sugarbelle’s Turkey Platter.  They turn out so cute and are a real crowd pleaser!

However, last minute this year, I decided to challenge myself to be more creative and come up with a design all my own!  I still took my cue from the best and decided to get creative with cookie cutters.  I went into my “cookie room” started opening drawers full of cookie cutters and looking to be inspired by one that could potentially be turned into a turkey.   My imagination was running wild, but when I came across my heart cookie cutter, I knew I could create something really cute and fairly simple! (which is ideal when you are already completely booked for the holiday but your crazy side wanted to make more cookies for the fun of it!)

I quickly drew up a sketch of what I wanted them to look like and started rolling out the dough!  After the cookies were baked and cooled, this is my play by play:

Cute right!?  Here are a few of the finished product.   PS stayed tuned because I have a plan for using this little guy for a new turkey platter! Please leave a comment below to let me know what you think!
